God's Acre

God's Acre

God's Acre at Hopewell is a resting place for our beloved members who have passed away. It is maintained by the church and has a history dating back to the late 1700's. Moravians strongly believe in equality, even in death, therefore every Moravian stone is flat and is of the same material and proportions so no one stands out. The deceased are buried by choir, these were living groups into which the congregation was divided, The burial by choir also reflects the way the members of the congregation sat as a worshiping community and symbolically the congregation continues in the graveyard. The members records are transferred to the Moravian Church archives for storage. Our amazing Easter service is held on site at God's Acre.

Our amazing Easter RESURRECTION service is
